Sunset 5/11/06

These photos are from the sunset of the 5th of November, the sunset was fantastic and had lots of deep red and orange hues, I even have an idea as to why it could have been such a great sunset…..

The night before there were many bonfires and fireworks in the UK to celebrate Bonfire Night, producing lots of dust and ash which was in the atmosphere. Sunsets are produced by the light from the sun penetrating the Earth’s atmosphere and traveling through the dust. With all this dust and other particles in the atmosphere maybe thats what produced all the deep reds and oranges that were in the sunset……but thats just my theory!

Remember, Remember the fifth of November

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The Gunpowder, Treason and Plot.
I see no reason why the gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot.

These are some of the photos I took on the fifth of November this year, well known as Guy Fawkes Night in the UK, where we celebrate the failure of the Gunpowder Plot, where Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament along with King James I in 1605.
Every year the UK celebrates by having bonfires and by sending hundreds of fireworks into the sky, which can lead to many fantastic photos, I managed to take a few nice photos by holding my camera (with its 300mm lens) in my hands, which for time exposures is very hard to get a good photo!

Enjoy the ones I managed to take, and as always feel free to click for a larger image.
