Shoreham Lifeboat’s Last Launch

Today saw the last slipway launch of the Shoreham All Weather Tyne Class Lifeboat, Hermione Lady Colwyn. She will be temporarily based at the Shoreham Harbour Locks whilst the new boathouse is built to house the new Tamar Class Lifeboat.

This last launch saw quite a gathering of local people wishing to show their support for the RNLI, and of course to watch the show.

Shoreham Lifeboat is launched from the old boathouse and slipway for the last time. The old boathouse will be demolished and replaced with a brand new one.

After the All Weather Lifeboat got to the bottom of the slipway, the Inshore lifeboat joined up alongside for a few passes of the Lifeboat Station boathouse before the All Weather Lifeboat went to moor up by the Lock Gates of Shoreham Harbour.

At the end of the day, just before the sun set I went for a walk along the coast at Shoreham Harbour and came across this scene with the All Weather Lifeboat looking out at the old boathouse.
