Tie Breakers

An often overlooked set of questions for quizzes are the tie breaker questions, it has been known for teams to end up tied winners and, even rarer, for people to tie at the end of the Snowball Rounds. So it is essential to have a few tie breaker questions up your sleeve ready for the inevitable time you will need to break the deadlock.

The best questions to use for a tie breaker are questions where the answer is a number, because if nobody gets it right then you can easily choose a winner from whoever was closest to the correct answer. This becomes a lot more difficult with a question which has a fact for an answer. That’s why I always use a number question to break any ties which crop up during the quiz. Here are a handful I used in my Quick Quiz.

Tie Breaker Question 1: According to a 2018 article from the Daily Telegraph the UK is home to over 20,000 Kebab “restaurants” but how many Kebabs are sold every day?
1.3 Million

Tie Breaker Question 2: In 2016 Turkish Chef Önder Şahand launched the worlds most expensive Kebab in Hazev Restaurant in Canary Wharf, but how much does his Kebab cost?
£925

Tie Breaker Question 3: How many calories are there in a large donner Kebab in a pita bread (550g)?
1364 Calories
